Psychological Therapy

Psychological Therapy is useful if you are experiencing significant mental health symptoms, are still dealing with events from your past or find yourself repeating the same mistakes in life over and over again.  Every year 1 in 5 Australians face these challenges, but you don't have to do it alone.  Effective treatments are available and over my career I have helped hundreds of people to address their symptoms.

I find that counselling combining the principles of clinical psychology (which focuses on the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of mental health conditions), and clinical health psychology (which focuses on the relationship between physical health, emotional health and behaviour) is particularly effective as it allows for consideration of you as a whole person in treatment.

In counselling we work specifically towards getting you relief from your symptoms or unstuck from unhelpful patterns. This may include work on enhancing the way you think, feel or relate to others and working to improve your physical health (e.g. diet, exercise, sleep, pain management).

I work from a positive, solution-focused framework and aim to help people make meaningful changes in their daily lives that persist after counselling has finished. I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution Focussed Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I frequently use behaviour change strategies to help my clients to break bad habits and improve their health. I tailor my treatments in collaboration with each client. There is no one-size-fits-all.
